Purpose Statement

Flint Labs
8 Cleantech Loop, Singapore 637145

1 Purpose Statement

Flint Labs exists to make everyday energy storage safer, cleaner, and more responsible.

We develop batteries that reduce reliance on conventional toxic and scarce battery materials, improve product safety, and lower the environmental impact of everyday devices. By rethinking batteries from the material level, Flint Labs aims to support a future where energy storage is designed with sustainability, safety, and responsible sourcing at its core.

This purpose is embedded in Flint Labs's business model, product design, material selection, supply chain commitments, compliance, safety, and communications. It guides how we develop our technology, select materials, engage suppliers, assess environmental impact, and communicate product claims.

In practice, this means Flint Labs integrates purpose into:

Product design – We design cellulose-based and flexible battery formats that aim to reduce reliance on conventional rigid battery materials and support safer, lower-impact energy storage.

Material selection – We prioritise safer material choices and seek to avoid substances of concern where technically and commercially feasible.

Responsible sourcing – We support responsible sourcing principles and a precautionary pause on deep-sea mining, reflecting our belief that the clean energy transition should not come at the expense of fragile ecosystems.

Compliance and safety – We integrate battery safety, restricted substance compliance, labelling, customer requirements, and market access considerations into our product development and commercialisation work.

Responsible communications – We aim to ensure our sustainability claims are evidence-based, proportionate, and aligned with available data, product testing, and verification status.

2 Governance & Accountability

Flint Labs's purpose statement is reviewed, approved and overseen by the company's Founder & CEO. Sustainability and compliance matters linked to this purpose are reviewed periodically as our products, supply chain, customer requirements, regulatory obligations, and stakeholder expectations evolve.

We monitor the implementation of our purpose through relevant indicators, including product carbon footprint work, restricted substance compliance, supplier documentation, battery safety and labelling readiness, customer compliance requirements, responsible sourcing engagement, and internal review of sustainability claims.

3 Review

Flint Labs will review this Purpose Statement at least annually to ensure that it remains relevant to the company's business strategy, product development, stakeholder expectations, and social and environmental impact priorities. The review will consider whether Flint Labs's purpose continues to reflect its role in developing safer, cleaner, and more responsible energy storage solutions, and whether the purpose is being embedded through company strategy, product design, responsible sourcing, compliance, stakeholder engagement, and external communications. Any material updates to this Purpose Statement will be reviewed and approved by Flint Labs's highest governing body before publication or implementation.

Climate Action Plan

Flint Labs
8 Cleantech Loop, Singapore 637145

1 Our Commitment

Flint Labs supports the global ambition to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. As a climate technology company developing paper-based batteries as safer and more sustainable alternatives to conventional batteries, Flint Labs recognises that climate action must be reflected not only in the products we develop, but also in how we manage our operations, supply chain, product design, manufacturing partnerships, and stakeholder engagement.

Flint Labs commits to measuring and publicly reporting its Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions annually, where applicable. Flint Labs will also progressively measure and disclose material Scope 3 emission categories where reliable activity data, supplier data, or reasonable estimation methodologies are available. This may include purchased goods and services, outsourced manufacturing, upstream transportation and distribution, business travel, employee commuting, waste generated in operations, and other relevant value chain categories.

2 Climate Targets

Corporate GHG reporting
Target: Establish and publicly disclose Flint Labs's first corporate GHG inventory covering Scope 1, Scope 2, and selected material Scope 3 categories
Timeline: FY2026

Scope 3 improvement
Target: Improve Scope 3 data completeness by engaging key suppliers, including contract manufacturing and key material suppliers
Timeline: FY2027

Product carbon footprint
Target: Maintain product-level carbon footprint assessment for priority battery products and improve primary data collection over time
Timeline: FY2026 onwards

Supplier engagement
Target: Include climate, environmental, and compliance considerations in supplier screening and periodic supplier review processes
Timeline: FY2026 onwards

Internal governance
Target: Review climate action progress at least annually with Flint Labs management
Timeline: Annually

Implementation will also be supported by relevant internal functions, including management, product development, procurement, operations, and commercial teams where required.

2 Technical resources – Flint Labs will commit to using appropriate technical tools and methodologies to support climate measurement and improvement. This may include lifecycle assessment and product carbon footprint tools such as SimaPro, recognised greenhouse gas accounting methodologies, supplier data collection templates, activity-data tracking tools, and relevant emission factor databases.

Where appropriate, Flint Labs may also engage external technical experts, laboratories, consultants, or assurance partners to improve the accuracy, completeness, and credibility of its climate-related data.

3 Materials & Compliance resources – Flint Labs will allocate reasonable resources to support climate-related implementation through relevant product compliance, testing, certification, and validation activities.

This may include battery safety testing, environmental compliance checks, third-party laboratory testing, UL-related assessments, customer-required testing, and other regulatory or product validation work that supports safer and more sustainable battery development.

These resources will help ensure that Flint Labs's climate action is connected to practical product development, responsible commercialisation, and compliance with relevant customer, market, and regulatory expectations.

4 Stakeholder Engagement

Flint Labs will engage these stakeholders through supplier data requests, technical discussions, sustainability questionnaires, procurement reviews, customer conversations, product carbon footprint work, testing and certification processes, and sustainability-related collaborations.

  1. Contract manufacturers;
  2. Key material suppliers;
  3. Testing, certification, and assurance partners;
  4. Customers and commercial partners;
  5. Employees and management;
  6. Investors and strategic partners;
